Free agency is the most exciting time in any sport. It’s a time where fans get to see where their favorite players are going, How their favorite teams have improved, and over exaggerate about how the season will go…………… I’m one of these fans.
THE PATRIOTS ARE BACK BABY BOI!!!!! SUPER BOWL BOUND!!!!!.
I’m kidding, but It’s about time we shook some things up. As a life long Patriots fan(it’s my dad’s fault) it’s always been the “Patriots Way” and although it’s won us multiple Super Bowl’s we have rarely used free agency to our advantage in the post Tom Brady years. I can even argue we didn’t make any big splashes during Brady’s entire tenure outside of Randy Moss. The philosophy was always draft and develop, and then when a player pop’s or proves to be a gamer we hard ball them because were cheap and let them walk.
All that’s changed. So far the Patriots have signed:
Milton Williams: DT, 4 years, $104 million
Carlton Davis: CB, 3 years, $54 million
Harold Landry: EDGE, 3 years, $43.5 million
Robert Spillane: LB, 3 years, $33 million
Morgan Moses: RT, 3 years, $24 million
Garrett Bradbury: C, 2 years, $12 million
Mack Hollins: WR, 2 years, $8.4 million
Joshua Dobbs: QB, 2 years, $8 million
K’Lavon Chaisson: EDGE, 1year, $5 million
In my honest opinion and it’s no disrespect to these guys, but majority of these signings (outside of Milton, Carlton, and Harold) aren’t stars, but are sure fire starters. Guys who may not be game breakers, but have proven to be ACTUAL players. Remember the Patriots are in the rebuild phase and the goal this year is to just to be competitive and develop a post Brady-Belichick culture. With that said, be on the look out for the Patriots to use at least 5 of the 9 draft picks we have this year on the O-line, Running back, and Wide Receiver positions. We need to see what Drake Maye has, but you can’t if you don’t protect him and give him people to throw to.
Yet, this team has a lot of needs but we for sure are going to win at least 9 games this year. Mark my words!!!!! I don’t care if I sound delusional. The Vrabel era is now upon us.
